Frequently Asked Questions

  • Where is the CMFH located? Do you have a physical store?

CMFH is located in Martinsdale, MT at the home of Delpine Farms. We do not have a physical store YET but hope to have a new location for aggregation and more, in Harlowton, MT.

  • Where and when do you deliver?

Centered in Martinsdale, we split our East and West delivery routes into 2 days every week.

Thursday: White Sulphur Springs, Wilsall, Clyde Park, Livingston and everyone in between within 2 miles of city center, Hwy 12 and Hwy 89.

Friday: Martinsdale, Harlowton, Hobson, Lewistown and everyone in between within 2 miles of city center, Hwy 191 and Hwy 87.

  • What if I live outside your delivery route?

We understand the challenges of living "out of town" so we want to do everything we can to make local food accessible to all of our rural neighbors. We work with you to find a custom solution that works for everyone. Usually we try to find a friend or family member that is in town who can receive your order or host a cooler for your order to be delivered to. Other times it means working with other customers in your region to work together or even work with a local business as a drop point. Rest assured, where there is a will for local food, there is a way. Email us at support@centralmontanafoodhub.com and we can create a plan together.

  • Can I meet you to get my order?

While we would love to be able to set a time to meet customers at a central drop-off point, that has unfortunately not been successful time after time. Our number of orders changes week by week making our pack and delivery times vary week to week. This is also still very much a bootstrap operation and we cannot call or text with a schedule to meet. That said, we still want to make the connection work so please always email us at support@centralmontanafoodhub.com and we can create a plan together.

  • Where can I pick up my order?

We always offer free pick up at Delpine Farms in Martinsdale. Any week, anyone can use this option. We also offer free pick up at the Farmers Markets we attend but our schedule isn't always consistent for that. Otherwise, all orders are delivered to the address entered into your account.

  • Where does my order get delivered to?

We deliver your order to the address entered into your online store account. If you have a different billing/mailing address (P.O. Box) be sure to enter both into your account accordingly. And no, we cannot deliver to your P.O. Box. You can update your account and address here, https://centralmontanafoodhub.localfoodmarketplace.com/Account/Login

  • When will my order be delivered?

The location you choose in the online store always has the day of the week included so you know if your location is set to Thursday Delivery Livingston, Friday Delivery, Harlowton, etc. Delivery times vary week to week but generally will arrive between 10am-3pm. If you need more info about a specific delivery, email us at support@centralmontanafoodhub.com.

  • What are the delivery fees?

Harlowton, Two Dot, Martinsdale, White Sulphur Springs: $3, free delivery for orders over $25.

Lewistown, Hobson, Judith Gap, Wilsall, Clyde Park, Livingston: $5, free delivery for orders over $50.

We encourage you to order enough and get the free delivery!

  • Is there a minimum order amount?

There is a $10 minimum order amount required for delivery (different for wholesale customers). This is to make sure our time spent delivering to you is worthwhile. Pick up at Delpine Farms in Martinsdale is always free.

  • Is there a membership fee?

There are no membership fees or any other hidden fees. The only fee we do charge is for delivery unless the minimum for free delivery has been met.

  • Do you offer a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture)?

Summer 2024 will be the first season we offer a limited number of CSA shares. assuming all goes well, we hope to offer more in 2025.

  • Why can't I see prices?

When viewing the online store, prices are only visible once you log into your account to shop. Anyone can create an account here, and view our retail prices. Wholesale/restaurant/institutional accounts need admin approval before Wholesale prices are visible.

  • How do I order?

To place your first order, you will need to create an account, including adding either your credit card or eCheck information. This is only for security purposes, in case orders are placed without intentions of paying. We use an incredibly secure processing platform called Authorize.net and we NEVER use your data for any purpose other than to pay for your order. Once you have created an account, you will want to be sure you have selected the correct delivery location and then shop. Once you have all the great local foods you'd like, select the shopping cart in the upper right corner and complete the steps to checkout and confirm your order. Refer to this reference for step by step instructions on creating an account and placing your first order:

  • How do I pay?

We do not process your order payment until it is delivered. This is helpful to us for items that need weights added, in case there are any items that are unavailable or in the unlikely event that something is damaged in transit. Orders are processed 1-2 business days after delivery.

We accept credit cards or eCheck as our standard payment method. We use an incredibly secure processing platform called Authorize.net and we NEVER use your data for any purpose other than to pay for your order. If those do not work for you, please email us at support@centralmontanafoodhub.com and we will work together to find a solution. A pre-paid account credit often solves the problem.

  • Why can't I confirm my order?

The online store system has some checks in place to prevent orders from being confirmed for a number of reasons. Many of those reasons are listed below. If you double check each one and still can’t confirm your order, please email us at support@centralmontanafoodhub.com and we will work with our tech support if needed for what is usually an easy fix and get your order confirmed.

Reasons my order may not let me confirm and complete it:

-Your order location is set to one that is not available for the current period. Fix in your “cart” or your “account information”

-You have not met the minimum order requirements. All orders must be over $10. Fix by adding more items to your cart until the balance due is over $10.

-You do not have your payment information added correctly. This happens on occasion, often triggered by an expired payment method. You can update your payment information in your “account information” → credit card or eCheck account info. Please note, your card/eCheck info must match your billing information so if you have a PO BOX or a billing address that is not the same as your physical address.

-Tech is frustrating and you just can’t figure it out. We got you. We don’t want the shopping experience to overburden anyone. Usually we find the fix quite easy and are happy to help. Email us at support@centralmontanafoodhub.com.

  • I didn't see something on the store that was advertised, when will it be available again?

This is tricky. Each producer is responsible for providing their products to the food hub. Fresh items are updated weekly as the season allows for their availability. Pantry and frozen items are kept in our CMFH inventory but we can sell out unexpectedly. We are always updating our inventory so if you missed out on something that you are still interested in, send us an email and we can try to provide you with a time when it will again be available.

  • Is everything organic?

Short answer? No. We do not require any producers to be USDA certified organic, or any other certifications for that matter. Each producer is responsible for their own farm/ranch/kitchen practices and we try to share those on our Producer page. We are particular about which producers we will accept into the CMFH. Their farming and ranching practices are very important to us. We want to provide high quality foods and that means following organic and/or regenerative practices, but there are so many nuances within those worlds and certification is often just a cumbersome and expensive process and let’s be honest, those government certifications are just not that important to our customers. That all said, regarding produce: it will always be free from herbicides, fungicides and pesticides. That is a minimum but our producers are always going above and beyond those basic standards.

  • Are your products "sprayed"?

This is another nuanced question that we get quite a bit. We carry produce, grains, legumes and prepared foods and it’s hard to keep track of each ingredient or crop process. Each producer is responsible for their own farm/ranch/kitchen practices and we try to share those on our Producer page. That all said, regarding produce: it will always be free from herbicides, fungicides and pesticides. That is a minimum but our producers are always going above and beyond those basic standards. It can be hard to know what might be “sprayed”, toxic chemicals vs compost tea, so the best bet is to email us with any questions about a specific product and we can follow up with our producer to get you a more precise answer.

  • Do you only sell to individuals or do you sell to restaurants?

If you want the best local food, we want to make that possible. We sell to individuals, restaurants, grocery stores, food pantries, schools, hospitals, etc. We do offer wholesale pricing as well as bulk options. If you are interested in purchasing wholesale, email us!

  • How do I sell my local food products through the Central Montana Food Hub?

Email us! We want as many local producers as possible but we can’t flood our store with too much or any one type of product to keep it profitable for our producers. Let’s have a conversation and see if you and your products are a good fit.

  • What is a producer and how can I learn more about CMFH Farms and ranches?

A producer is someone (or a business) that creates food products. Farmers and ranchers that sell their products in a slightly more processed state, washed, packaged, frozen, etc. (oppose to raw, living) through the food hub. While Montana is full of beef ranchers, most don’t finish them or arrange for processing (always state certified at minimum). Many farms grow and sell their grain through the commodity markets but only a select few keep those grains and process them for whole grain or milled for flour. We seek out these hard working farmers and ranchers to offer their products through the CMFH. We also have producers who create value added products using local ingredients, like jams, honey, baked goods, cereal, etc. To learn more about our producers, visit our Producer page.
